This document delineates minimum standards of practice for validating analytical methods in forensic toxicology. 1 Validation is the process of performing a set of experiments that reliably estimates the efficacy and reliability of an analytical method or modification to a previously validated method. The goal of validation is to establish objective evidence that demonstrates. The development, review, and approval process for a Preliminary Standard (see Preliminary Standard) is the same as for a full standard of The Open Group. Scientific literacy is the knowledge and understanding of scientific concepts and processes required for personal decision making, participation in civic and cultural affairs, and economic productivity. It also includes specific types of abilities. In the National Science Education Standards, the content standards define scientific literacy.   A Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) is a document consisting of step-by-step information on how to execute a task.
